Ngozi is an architectural design strategist whose work concerns the psychology and politics surrounding space-making. For the last three years she has been working with architecture studios, artists and non-profits to create immersive spatial experiences.
What did you do before Openbox?
I designed experiences for a creative healing space for black women who have survived sexual trauma and did research & communications at an architecture firm.
What do you like about the work you do?
I am infinitely curious about people, love exploring new spaces and am an aesthetic fiend. So I love that my work combines these favorite things.
What does inclusivity mean to you?
Inclusivity means everyone having the space to show up as their authentic selves. No compromise.
When do you feel most like yourself?
Hard to say. I rarely don’t feel like myself.
I spend a lot of time thinking about…
Living in a black imagination — as opposed to the white male one in which we currently reside.
