Context

This short documentary depicts the fight over limestone mining in the ancient Ojnare forest of Gotland, the largest island in Sweden. It has become a highly charged, local manifestation of a conflict found all over the world, one pitting industry and jobs against the environment.

Release

The Limestone Conflict premiered at Gothenburg International Film Festival and had it's North American premiere at Telluride’s Mountainfilm. The film has screened at Environmental Film Festival Australia, Environmental Film Festival in our Nation’s Capital and Frozen River Film Festival. The Limestone Conflict was included in Mountainfilm’s World Tour, with sales representation by Journeyman Pictures.

Director, Petter Ringbom shot this film during residency at the Ingmar Bergman Estate. It serves as a research document for the fiction feature, Asunden.
